Photolane by Zoomin, creating a photobook
A little while ago we were approached by a company wanting us to do a product review on a new app for creating a photobook from your mobile phone. Sounds like a simple brilliant idea. Take a few happy snaps, open up the app, select the photos, press the “create now” button, then within a week a beautiful hard covered photo book arrives by courier.
Sounds too good to be true? Well that was my experience.
Okay, so you say you haven’t got any nice photos on your phone as you use your camera for your best shots? Not a problem, do what I did. Simply upload your photos to your phone, then with the magic of technology, upload them to Photolane via the app. The app is very easy to use and allows you to create a photobook by choosing a few different themes and select up to 40 photos. Once you’ve selected your photos you are taken to a secure payment portal to complete the transaction. That really is all there is to creating a photobook.
Now sit back and wait. It won’t be long they said. And it wasn’t. During the short wait we were notified several times as to the progress via text and email.
Just imagine you’ve just had the birth of child in the family, out comes the smart phone, selfies with baby, selfies with the mother and a few posed shots with the family. In our case we had some beautiful photos from our trip to Europe in 2013 which included a Mediterranean cruise. We had been discussing various methods to showcase our memories which included the beautiful cities of Paris, Vienna, Venice and more. We had thought of doing a montage on a photo canvas or a few picture frames scattered across the wall.
All great methods, but very restricting as we couldn’t easily show friends and family. What we needed was a photobook, something that was easily carried or even had the ability to be shown online by the means of a link. So when we realised how easy it would be, creating a photobook was a no brainer.
And that’s exactly what Photolane by Zoomin offers. You can now turn your priceless memories into a quality 8”x 8” satin matte hard covered 32 page photobook, with a link to the online version. The best part is creating a photobook without needing a degree in publishing or taking out a second mortgage.
The photobook arrived by courier in specially designed packaging offering complete protection to the contents. Once opened, the packaging revealed a white package wrapped in clear cellophane. Within the cellophane wrapper was the photobook in a beautifully presented white custom printed sleeve. Included with the sleeve was a discount coupon for our next photobook, which is something we will be making use of. Maybe it’s time to do something with our wedding photos. An excellent gift idea.
Use the above links to view our photobook and download the App to order your own photobook where you can save 50% by entering the discount code AHIMS.
We were provided a code for creating a complimentary photobook but our review is based on our honest and truthful sentiments.
Have you converted any of your travel photos to a photo book? Is this something you would consider now especially now you know how easy it is?

Great idea. I would love the online version. I stopped adding paper books to my collections a while ago. I know that I’ll be moving on from Korea within the next few years, and sadly cannot carry books with me.

That’s such a shame, sometimes the tactile feel of flicking through a book can’t be replaced by an online solution, but I guess its much lighter on the excess baggage bill. Thanks for the feedback Nancie.
I love photobooks – we make them of each of our trips and leave them where the kids have access to them, so they can be reminded any time they like of the trip. It’s so different from when we were kids and photos were SPECIAL and had to be kept up!
Crysta, the kids could create their own photobooks with their own special photos, child’s play.
Great idea! My photos that don’t make it onto a blog post end up on my computer forever, never to be seen by anyone. I need to start creating photo books, and Photolane looks like an easy enough way to do it.

You are so right Connie, I take all my photos with a DSLR but next trip that will change. The iPhone will also have its place in my camera bag for those special shots.
What a great idea for all of those trip photos!

Hi Corinne, its so easy to use and the quality is exceptional.
I like that you can also have a link to your photobook so you don’t have to physically carry it. I have been meaning to create more coffee table books of our family holidays, I might try using this app.

Sally, I’m sure you would have many photos of Fiji with the kids that would fill the 32 page photobook.
We love creating photobooks with our pictures! We’ve never tried this company but will give them a try. Thanks for the coupon code!

Brian and Amanda, we will be ordering more books through Photolane, time to catch up on all those holiday snaps. Could make your own cookbook, school year book or photos from a birthday, it truly is endless.
I like the fact that you not only have a printed book but also a shareable photo link. Like you, I tend to take most photos on my DSLR but as you say, it’s quite easy to send these photos to your email address and then get them printed via the app

Hi Suze, uploading my choice photos to my iPhone was very easy to do, from there I selected the photos. At the time I was using my trusty iPhone 4 and since have upgraded to a iPhone 6. We’ll be able to take some nice pictures on the new phone with the better camera.
This is a great idea! We always toy with putting our photos together in an album but don’t want to go through the hassle but this sounds like a great, uncomplicated way of putting it together! And there’s an online version which is a huge plus! Definitely putting Photolane on the list when we’re looking to buy our next gift for someone!

Carmen have you created photobooks before? You may find this one much easier to do.
Would make an amazing present for someone too. We have a huge amount of birthdays etc coming up next year, so this might solve all of the problems in one go.
